Birth of a Legion

Chapter 4: Imperial Deal

Three days had passed since the test offered from the warp had been completed and the freedom from the fiery death of sunlight had enabled a great deal of planning and observation to take place. Between the two vampires fifteen troops had been coerced into joining them in there plans to begin a new law in the galaxy. Many had been persuaded by the promise of freedom from the grasp of the warp energies and its daemonic horrors that haunted most astartes' thoughts and so the task of recruiting had been named the 'purification from chaos'. Though they did not know it, the very creation of the space marines had required a helping hand from chaos so both Dracule and Kailesk felt no guilt about twisting the truth to those disillusioned enough to listen.

Fifteen men, though impressive after just three days, was a mere glimmer of hope to Dracule and nowhere near enough to consider the rebuilding of his army a success. Also there was the factor that these mutated freaks were not true vampires in the sense that Dracule sought. He felt no sense of camaraderie with them as he did with Kailesk and knew that ultimately they were merely subjects to bulk his numbers. None of them would ever out rank the authority of any 'natural' vampire he encountered, regardless of the talents they may possess, hence Kailesk receiving the honourable rank of High commander.

Dracule and Kailesk strode arrogantly to the meeting point, A dank abandoned mining tunnel, and addressed there recruits.

"Dracule I presume?"

The heavily aged imperial stepped from the file troops and strode forwards, stiff and upright in his stride, to meet the vampire with his hand outstretched.

The End... So far!
